Updated: Oct 27
If you're looking to save money on data costs, the easiest way is to switch from normal data to an uncapped fibre solution. Uncapped fibre offers affordable, stable Internet for the whole family at one flat rate.

Fibre optic broadband Internet is a real game changer. For one thing, fibre internet is 20x faster than your normal copper cable internet.
The very obvious benefit of installing fibre internet in your home is speed. Unlike traditional copper cables which become slower over time, fibre internet is super-fast.
Here’s an example of how speed works on the various connections:
Time to download a 2-hour HD movie:
· Fiber optic internet speed 1 Gbps: 40 seconds
· Cable internet speed 100 Mbps: 7 minutes
· DSL speed 25 Mbps: 30 minutes [3]
· 4G LTE speed 35 Mbps: 25 minutes
· 5G internet speed 10 Gbps: 4 seconds [4]
This is just a guide to outline how fast fibre internet is compared other forms form online connection.
Step 1 – Are you in a fibre neighbourhood?
Check the coverage map your fibre service provider. Add your address to the search bar.

Once you have added your address, you will see on the webpage if fibre is available at your location or if you’re still part of the rollout process.
If you are covered, it should look like this:

Next Step: click on “Agree”
Here you will be presented with a selection of packages available to you at your location. Faster speeds cost more. Here it is important to consider what you intend to do with all that massive Internet power.
1. How many people in your home?
2. How many connected devices do you have?
3. Are you switching from satellite dish to streaming?
4. How many smart devices do you have in your home?
5. How many computers?
6. Are you building a smart home with connected devices like Google home speakers?
7. Are you doing any online gaming? Streaming?
8. Do you work from home?
Advice: choose an affordable package that can give you most of the above and won’t break the bank. Choosing the right package will keep you connected for longer and you can always upgrade later. Switching between providers can incur costs with some providers and cause delays and lead to frustration. If you are a gamer or an online content creator, you want stable Internet that won’t drop in the middle of a Live. If your internet usage is less demanding, opt for a package with lower speeds.
